This article discusses something quite fascinating- using robots or robot type devices in the care of elderly. Some of these devices were recently seen at an exhibit in Tokyo, Japan. One of the most interesting was a device that CNAs or certified nursing assistants wear to help them lift a patient. CNAs must help immobile seniors move in and out of beds (and special tubs) throughout the day. Most CNAs are women. It is often difficult to keep a nursing home staffed with CNAs because of the physically taxing job (also with little pay). This device would obviously be helpful; yet incredibly expensive. For now, CNAs can only dream of robots being part of the every day work place.
